Piola is a story about three young Chileans. Martin and Charly spend their time making rap music. One night they find a weapon, while a girl loses her dog. Although seemingly unrelated, these stories are intimately linked, telling the difficult passage from adolescence to adulthood.
“A rap-fueled coming of age tale — Through a series of subplots, the film also touches on issues of race, class, immigration and the near-unbreakable bonds between close friends.” (Jamie Lang, Variety)
“Rap music has an exceptional capacity to transform and adapt itself to any culture and become a localized entity. Even if I might not be familiar with the local scene in Santiago de Chile, I instantly recognize this culture in Piola as my own.”
Piola is available all of the festival week.
