Children of the Coast

Travelling through Mexico’s Costa Chica, the film follows Afro-Mexican musicians whose songs, stories, and traditions reveal the rich cultural landscape of a community historically rendered invisible, shaped by centuries of movement and exchange across the Atlantic and the Americas.

Through music and oral history, the film uncovers an extraordinary living archive where African, Indigenous, European, and Caribbean influences continue to encounter and reshape one another.
