NATURE & CULTURE INT. POETRY FILM FESTIVAL
The Poetic Phonotheque
Welcome to a late night free programme of poetry films at Kino Konepaja this Saturday 10 October from 22:00 – 23:00.
Video poetry (also called film poetry, poetronica, or cine-poetry) is an artistic medium that blends written or spoken poetry with time-based acoustic and visual elements like video art, digital animation, and kinetic typography.
This selection from the Poetic Phonotheque’s permanent collection brings together poetry films from across Latin America and its diasporas. Spanning experimental film, animation, performance, and Indigenous storytelling, the works explore memory, migration, history, language, and place. Voices in Portuguese, Spanish, English, Mayan Kaqchikel, and Kalin’a reflect the linguistic and cultural plurality of the region, while poetry and moving image open spaces for preserving memory, confronting erasure, and imagining connections across borders.
The screenings are free, but registration through the ticket button is highly recommended, as seating is limited.
This event is part of a larger programme at Kino Konepaja in collaboration between Helsinki Poetry Connection, the 21st Cinemaissí Film Festival and Catalysti association.
