Cinemaissí’s Grand Closing Party

Year after year, one of the most anticipated events at Cinemaissí is our legendary closing party: La Gran Fiesta (Est. 2005).

This year, the celebration takes over Tähti Culture and Event Space, right in the heart of Helsinki’s Konepaja district. Come spend an epic night surrounded by filmmakers, artists, industry people, and some of the characters who make Helsinki’s cultural scene so vibrant.

La Gran Fiesta kicks off with a programme of Latin American short films selected by our artistic director under the title Territories of Convergence. The programme brings together films featuring Cuba, Argentina, Iceland, the United States, Mexico, Finland, and the United Kingdom:

During the night, Tähti will transform one of its spaces into an analogue audiovisual installation by Seppo Renvall & Friends. Renvall is one of the pioneers of experimental film in Finland. His films, works, and performances have been presented at some of the most prestigious venues and events in alternative cinema and visual art, from Anthology Film Archives in New York to the Venice and São Paulo biennials.

As the night gets deeper, DJ Mitotl will take us into the tropical forests of movement, with cumbia, salsa, and rhythms made for sweating out every last drop of our cinephile essence.
